A Cozy Evening at Goodwill Saloon and Kinyozi in Nairobi

Last Saturday evening, I found myself wandering the bustling streets of Nairobi, with the aroma of grilled delicacies wafting through the air. My destination? Goodwill Saloon and Kinyozi, a charming tappi merchant that promised not only a cozy atmosphere but also an unforgettable culinary experience.

Upon stepping inside, I was greeted by the warm smiles of the staff. One attendant, Jane, stood out with her attentive service. She was quick to offer recommendations and made me feel right at home, which set the tone for the night.

As I settled down, I perused their menu, which boasted an inviting range of offerings. I decided to try the famous Ugali and Fried Fish. At just KSh 600, this dish is not only affordable but also highly praised by previous diners for its generous portion and delicious flavors.

The moment it arrived, I could see why it was favored. The fish was perfectly fried, boasting a crispy exterior that gave way to tender, flaky meat. Paired with the rich, comforting ugali, it was a meal that truly celebrated local flavors.

Next on my list was the well-reviewed Beef Nyama Choma, priced at KSh 800. This dish has received numerous shoutouts in reviews for its smoky flavor and juicy tenderness. After taking my first bite, I completely understood the hype. The beef was grilled to perfection, succulent and bursting with flavor, highlighting the chef's skill at marinating and cooking.

As I savored my meal, I took a moment to observe the ambiance of the saloon. The rustic decor, combined with the buzz of happy patrons enjoying their meals, created a welcoming and lively atmosphere. It felt like I was dining at a friend’s home rather than in a commercial establishment.

Of course, I couldn’t leave without trying a local drink. I opted for their Mango Juice, priced at KSh 200. This refreshing beverage was the perfect complement to my meal, revitalizing my palate and enhancing the overall dining experience.

As my evening drew to a close, I couldn’t help but reflect on the wonderful experience at Goodwill Saloon and Kinyozi. The combination of delicious food, friendly service from Jane, and the lively atmosphere made it a highlight of my week. If you're ever in Nairobi and looking for a spot to enjoy local cuisine, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting Goodwill Saloon and Kinyozi. I visited around 7 PM, and the bustling vibe only added to the charm.

Next time, I can’t wait to try their Grilled Chicken, which several reviewers have raved about. Until then!
